'' Exploring ancient craft of Indian Textiles with combined reinvention using spontaneous modern marks has helped me to achieve a modern home collection that captures the beauty and value of origins and culture''
I have designed this collection by exploring with Indian Textiles that I was lucky to collect from our VAD's Collection at Farnham. I came across a few original textile pieces that dated as far back as the 18th century. I was fascinated by the patterns and craftsmanship of Textiles back then...
After exploring with this particular piece of cloth I decided to change and manipulate it by introducing hand made marks to achieve a contrast between the old and the new. I did alot of the mark making on paper and used Photoshop to see how these marks might help to 'erase' the origins and introduce it into a more modern and contemporary design.
I have been very ambitions about creating something contemporary and modern but still keeping the original beauty of hand made cloth and traditional Indian Textiles . My aims have been to achieve a domestic textiles for Interiors.
All the images that I have taken of my work showcase my fabric designs and some of them have been made into cushions to help with my final visualisation.
I have also created a brochure book that includes all my images from my collection that I am hoping to present at New designers 2014.
